Today, as data conversion sampling rates of analog-to-digital converters are moving into the Giga Sample Per Second (GSPS) range, data conversion systems must be so designed as to be able to support such kind of high conversion rates. Furthermore, only those analog components that can generate and amplify high-frequency signals should be used. In addition to the role played by the analog signal path, other areas that the designer must consider very carefully are the sampling clock and the capture of digital data at high bit rates. This Webinar will discuss the challenges facing the engineers when they design GHz sampling systems. Tips, tricks and techniques for powerful designs will also be offered.

Learn "how to" design an isolated constant current source to drive high power LED's from an AC power line. The constant current source is built using a flyback topology and has an efficiency greater than 80%. Conventional current sources need many components for this. This application is a low-cost solution based on an innovative circuit (patent filed) using a Fairchild Power Switch (FPS). The converter is a primary side regulated removing the need for an optocoupler and other additional components.

The new Virtex-5 FXT family of Xilinx FPGAs was developed specifically to enable integration of sophisticated embedded systems on a single, flexible and high performance platform. In this webcast, Xilinx will introduce the high system performance and bandwidth advantages of the innovative PowerPC 440 blocks embedded in the new Virtex-5 FXT platform FPGAs. We will show how to build customized embedded systems to unique and exacting design requirements, while lowering both system cost and power consumption. FPGA-based embedded processing designs, reduce component count, board size and ultimately simplify the Bill of Materials without giving up performance.

This topic reviews the most critical design step of a phase shifted full bridge power converter to harvest the full potential of the circuit. Important aspects of soft switching power conversion, synchronous rectification, and the current doubler output rectifier structure provide the back bone of the discussion. The procedure demonstrated in this presentation can be applied to the ever increasing number of soft switching converter designs in modern power electronics.

Texas Instrument's (TI) DAC8564 is a low-power, voltage-output, four-channel, 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The device includes a 2.5V, 2ppm/?C internal reference (enabled by default), giving a full-scale output voltage range of 2.5V. The internal reference has an initial accuracy of 0.02% and can source up to 20mA at the VREFH/VREFOUT pin. The device is monotonic, provides very good linearity, and minimizes undesired code-to-code transient voltages (glitch). The DAC8564 uses a versatile 3-wire serial interface that operates at clock rates up to 50MHz. The interface is compatible with standard SPI!", QSPI!", Microwire!", and digital signal processor (DSP) interfaces.

Applications that require the best DC precision possible from an op amp benefit from the performance of auto-zeroed op amps. This Webinar gives an overview of the architecture found in our new MCP6V0X auto-zeroed op amps. There is a quick history of the naming of these parts, an explanation of how auto-zeroing achieves high precision, different clock schemes and their benefits and the performance pros and cons of the variations in this architecture. The presentation finishes with information on how these parts will affect your circuit's performance. The slides contain additional information that you may refer to after the presentation, including references to literature available from Microchip.
